Battery power isn't just for remote-controlled cars and smartphones anymore. Energy storage has already revolutionized the ways we use electricity, but in the coming years, it will also shape much of how electricity is generated.
For renewable energy resources like wind and solar power to continue their rise to prominence, both will need to overcome intermittency issues. Once the technology seamlessly incorporates storage, customers can rely on these energy sources predominantly, instead of thinking of them as peripheral to the grid.
On top of that, storage can also speed up clean energy innovation overall by preventing generators from falling back on bad habits. Storage technology can stop the construction of new power plants run on fossil fuels by saving every kilowatt-hour gleaned from renewables.
