The House Committee on Science, Space and Technology recently introduced a bill that could give nuclear energy the boost it needs to sustain its popularity in the age of green energy.
The Nuclear Energy Innovation Capabilities Act creates a bridge between nuclear scientists operating in the private and public sectors. If nothing else, this channel will encourage a safe collaboration space for innovators in the field.
Some states already support the use of nuclear energy as a carbonless alternative to oil and natural gas. However, nuclear energy has its own issues, namely reactor waste. Experts believe this heightened communication could be the first step toward developing technology to reduce nuclear waste or even break new ground on ways to recycle the hazardous material.
