A successful United Nations summit on climate change ended with nearly 200 nations officially signing an agreement to lower carbon emissions globally.
Though there's still much to be done to combat the impact of climate change, many experts believe the Paris accord could make a substantial difference. If all signing parties hold up their ends of the bargain, it could significantly improve the planet's chances of preventing atmospheric temperature increases.
This reconciliation shows much promise for the future of the energy industry, especially coming off the heels of the fruitless international climate change talks in Copenhagen six years ago. With more nations than ever uniting over global warming, a stronger dedication to renewable, carbon-free energy technology could make these resources more affordable and applicable to ratepayers everywhere.
