POWWR recruits highly respected CTO to drive its long-term technology roadmap

John Jemsek will mentor and cultivate the company’s growing global engineering and architecture teams

POWWR, the respected energy software provider, today announces the appointment of John Jemsek as chief technology officer. Jemsek will be a key driver of POWWR’s ambitious technology roadmap and will be a strong voice and advocate for customers, partners, employees, and investors alike. 

Jemsek is a seasoned engineering executive with over 20 years of experience growing startups, scaling enterprises, and leading global distributed teams of all sizes. Throughout his career, he has evolved numerous large-scale enterprise services by adhering to software architecture best practices in supportability, scalability, performance, availability, maintainability, extensibility, and security.

Jemsek joins POWWR from tax compliance automation software provider Avalara, Inc., where he was tasked with modernizing and scaling AvaTax, Avalara’s flagship product, into a set of scalable services resulting in a platform that was significantly more reliable, scalable, and efficient. At Avalara, he led a global, cross-functional data platform re-architecture that enabled AvaTax to manage over 100x the baseline transaction volume.
